Soft blue and warm beige tones meet expressive brushwork in this timeless, understated abstract composition. In Riddle | Framed Painting, expressive brushwork and layered marks establish the character of the abstract composition. The eye moves between layered forms and open passages, allowing colour and mark-making to establish the structure of the piece. The result is an original painting with a confident visual presence and enough subtlety to reward closer viewing.
At the heart of the artwork is blue, beige and brown tones, chosen to support the composition rather than dominate it. The forms and colour relationships evoke colour, movement and the spontaneous language of contemporary abstraction. Subtle shifts between the dominant and supporting tones keep the surface visually varied without disturbing the overall balance. The restrained palette gives the artwork a quiet confidence and a timeless, collected feel.
