Olive green tones unfold through expressive marks in this calm, sophisticated abstract composition. Hit The Road brings together layered forms and expressive mark-making in a abstract composition that feels layered without becoming overworked. The eye moves between layered forms and open passages, allowing colour and mark-making to establish the structure of the piece. This gives the original painting a refined contemporary finish, with colour and composition carrying the visual impact.
At the heart of the artwork is green and teal tones, chosen to support the composition rather than dominate it. The forms and colour relationships evoke colour, movement and the spontaneous language of contemporary abstraction. The secondary colours are used sparingly, adding depth and contrast while allowing the main palette to remain clearly defined. The cooler palette gives the piece an atmospheric quality, balancing calm with enough contrast to retain presence.
