Deep red and earthy brown tones meet expressive forms in this refined, contemporary composition. In Faithless By Default II, layered forms and expressive mark-making establish the character of the landscape. Layered planes and softened edges build a sense of foreground and distance without relying on unnecessary detail. The result is an original painting with a confident visual presence and enough subtlety to reward closer viewing.
The visual language takes cues from the layered colours, changing light and quiet rhythm of the natural landscape. Red, brown and orange tones anchor the palette, with secondary notes adding nuance and depth rather than competing for attention. The palette is carefully controlled, so brighter or darker accents add interest without pulling attention away from the composition. Bold colour provides the focal energy, tempered by quieter areas that keep the overall piece refined rather than overpowering.
