Sage green tones unfold through expressive marks in this calm, sophisticated abstract composition. A Passage Through II brings together energetic marks and expressive movement in a seascape that feels layered without becoming overworked. The arrangement moves between open horizon-like space and more active marks, giving the scene a gentle sense of motion. This gives the original painting a refined contemporary finish, with colour and composition carrying the visual impact.
At the heart of the artwork is green, blue and brown tones, chosen to support the composition rather than dominate it. The forms and colour relationships evoke the shifting light, open horizons and natural rhythm of the coast. Subtle shifts between the dominant and supporting tones keep the surface visually varied without disturbing the overall balance. The cooler palette gives the piece an atmospheric quality, balancing calm with enough contrast to retain presence.
